Superintendent Dr. Bill Chapman Announces Plans to Retire
After 32 years of service in public education, with 14 years of that serving as superintendent in three different districts, Dr. Bill Chapman announced today he will retire after two years as Superintendent of Schools in London ISD. “After consulting with my family and the Board, this is the right decision at this time”, said Dr. Chapman. Dr. Bill Chapman’s last day in the district will be June 30, 2026; he will remain an employee of the school district until August 31, 2026.
District Highlights During Dr. Chapman’s Tenure
Oversaw the construction and opening of the London Primary School
Maintained a balanced budget while adding positions to meet student growth and continue meeting district academic progress.
Implemented security upgrades to LISD, including secure vestibules and a crisis notification system.
Implemented new partnerships with TAMU-CC and DMC
- LISD and TAMU-CC partnered to place TAMU-CC Education Students as Clinical Interns, providing them a year of experience on a campus as they complete their degree.
- LISD and Del Mar have created a new pathway to nursing program for LHS students, allowing them to earn their RN and possibly BSN quicker.
Completed purchase of 40 acres for future LISD growth
Oversaw the design and construction of Tennis courts (In Progress).
