I graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School and went on to attend Del Mar College where I received an Associates Degree in General Education K- 4th grade. I continued on to Texas A&M Corpus Christi where I graduated with honors and received a degree in Special Education K-12th Grade.
I started my journey with London as a Homebound Teacher. After 2.5 years, I joined the full time staff as the High School Special Education teacher.
My classroom is one of noise, stimming, patience, and expression. I often find myself saying that everyday is an adventure. The focus of my classroom is in the abilities of each student and my staff and I strive to assist our students in becoming active members of society. Functional and social skills are a neccessary component of our curriculum and we work hard to help our students become as successful as they can. My students run the Pirate Store out of my classroom which facilitates money, stocking, and social skills.
I also run the Peer Mentor Program where high school students are paired in the classroom settings. This allows peers to assist each other in academic and social areas rather. The program has flourished and has created bonds that my students will cherish for years to come. It has also created an atmosphere of awareness, acceptance, and understanding throughout the entire campus. I hope to continue to foster this atmosphere and brdige the gap between the misunderstood and the general population.
